About Kate: The Story
When you are in a work situation there is no choice. It has to be done. The joy I get is in being part of this collaborative endeavour. I was fortunate to grow up in a theatre family and to go on to have a career in theatre stage and company management encompassing repertory theatre, National Theatre, Old Vic, Young Vic and Royal Court theatre. Courses aren't designed to make someone a showcaller — only experience does that. What they do is give you a shortcut to the practical information, so you arrive prepared rather than starting cold. Think of it the way you'd think of driving lessons: they don't make you a driver, but they mean your first weeks on the road aren't spent guessing.
